Desert Bloom Granite
Desert Bloom is a medium-grained granite quarried in Rajasthan, characterised by a warm sandy-pink base with darker garnet flecks. Specified for elevation cladding, staircases and flooring where a warmer-than-stone background is wanted.
Material Notes, Desert Bloom Granite
Desert Bloom is one of the lesser-known but more versatile Rajasthani granites. The base reads as a sandy warm pink, closer to a desert dune than a saturated rose. Embedded in the base are darker garnet flecks and small black biotite inclusions that give it visual movement without busy-ness.
The material is quarried near Jalore and Sirohi in Rajasthan, where the geological conditions also produce most of India’s pink granites. We work on a direct supply contract with the source quarry, which keeps delivered cost in Kerala at trade-banded on enquiry, about 30% under the showroom average for an equivalent grade.
Where it suits
- Elevation and façade cladding, UV stable, holds its colour through Kerala monsoons and summers. Specify 30mm flamed finish, mechanical fixing.
- Staircase treads and risers, warm tone reads especially well on south-facing entry stairs.
- Drawing room flooring, under warm wood furniture and earthy textiles. Mismatched with cool greys, modern minimalism.
- External paving, flamed only. Anti-slip when wet.
- Lobby and reception flooring for hotels and offices that want warmth rather than the cool granite default.
Where it doesn’t
- Kitchen counters, too soft on the Mohs scale for active cooking surfaces. Specify Tan Brown or Black Galaxy instead.
- Coastal-direct external paving, within 200m of the sea, salt blooms appear on the surface. Specify a black granite (Absolute Black, Black Galaxy) for those situations.
- Hospitals and laboratories, specify a chemical-resistant porcelain or quartz surface.

Common questions on Desert Bloom Granite
Is Desert Bloom granite suitable for external use? +
Yes, it's a UV-stable Rajasthani granite that holds colour well in Kerala sun. Flamed finish is the right specification for external paving and elevation cladding. Polished works for sheltered façades and staircases.
How does Desert Bloom compare to other pink granites? +
Lakha Red is more saturated and uniformly red; Rosy Pink is softer and more uniform; Desert Bloom has the most patterned, sandy-warm character with visible garnet flecks. Choose based on whether you want uniform colour (Rosy Pink) or visual movement (Desert Bloom).
What's the price for a 1 200 sqft elevation cladding job? +
Approximate delivered + installed rate in Ernakulam: trade-banded on enquiry including 30mm flamed Desert Bloom, mechanical fixing system (Hilti or equivalent), and workmanship. Quote includes engineering for wind-load compliance.
