Carrara White is the reference Italian marble, a soft white base with delicate grey veining quarried from the Apuan Alps in Tuscany. Specified for high-end Kerala residential lobbies, master bathrooms, statement staircases and feature walls.

Carrara White is the most-specified Italian marble in the world, quarried from the Apuan Alps quarries that supplied Michelangelo’s David and the Pantheon’s columns. The defining visual is a soft, slightly warm white base with delicate grey veining, less dramatic than Statuario but more consistent across slabs and more amenable to whole-floor matching.
We import Carrara directly through our specifier pipeline, typically 4 to 8 weeks delivered to Kochi depending on shipment schedule. Standard slabs are gangsaw-cut at 18mm and 20mm thicknesses.
Where Carrara White suits
- Entry lobby and foyer floors, where you want immediate visual presence without drama.
- Master bathrooms, vanity tops, shower-wall cladding, full-floor cladding in honed finish.
- Statement staircases, treads and risers cut from matched slabs.
- Drawing-room flooring in design-led residential, especially homes with neutral palettes and brass or warm-wood accents.
- Hospitality lobbies, reception areas, the right material for premium hotel public spaces.
- Bar fronts, reception desks, dramatic-cut piece work.
Where it does not
- Kitchen counters, too soft for active cooking surfaces, etches on citrus and acid contact. Specify a granite, quartzite or porcelain counter; save the Carrara for the room next to the kitchen.
- Outdoor paving in coastal Kerala, monsoon humidity and salt exposure shorten service life. Indoor-only.
- High-traffic commercial corridors, the surface wears visibly over decades. Specify granite or porcelain for malls, airports, hospitals.
Matched-lot reservation
For projects over 300 sqft requiring veining continuity across rooms or floors, we reserve material from a single gangsaw block at the source quarry. Process:
- Lot reservation at quote stage with a partial deposit.
- We hold the block at the quarry yard until shipping consolidation.
- Block sawn into slabs at the Italian yard, inspected for consistency before container loading.
- Container ships from Carrara to Cochin Port, typical transit 4-6 weeks.
- Slabs cleared at our Kochi godown, inspected, then dispatched to your site against an agreed schedule.
Care and longevity
Carrara is sold sealed at the Italian source and resealed at our godown before delivery. Daily care: dry sweep, then damp mop with warm water and a stone-safe pH-neutral cleaner. Reseal every 12 to 18 months. Wipe acidic spills (citrus, wine, soft drinks) immediately to prevent etching.
Sealed and maintained, a Carrara floor stays in show condition for 20+ years.

How is Carrara different from Statuario? +
Both are Italian marbles from the Carrara region of Tuscany. Carrara has a slightly warmer base and finer, delicate veining. Statuario has a brighter white base with bolder, more dramatic veining. Statuario is rarer and considerably more expensive. For most residential applications, Carrara is the more practical specifier choice.
Can I see Carrara White slabs before ordering? +
Yes. Visit our Kundannoor godown to inspect actual slabs in person. For matched-lot reservations across whole-floor projects, we recommend a site visit at quote stage so we can identify the specific lot for your project before it ships.
Is Carrara suitable for Kerala bathrooms? +
Yes, with appropriate sealing. We use honed finish for shower-floor and polished for vanity tops and wall cladding. Reseal every 12-18 months. Do not use mirror-polished Carrara on shower floors, slippery when wet.
How long does Carrara take to deliver to Kerala? +
Four to eight weeks depending on shipment schedule and customs clearance. Containers from Italy arrive at Cochin Port roughly fortnightly. For tight timelines we can air-freight specific pieces, but normal sea-freight is the default.
